Elle soutient que les strat�gies de conservation mises en oeuvre par l'�tat tha�landais s'apparentent � une strat�gie de territorialisation utilis�e pour obtenir ou maintenir le contr�le sur des zones p�riph�riques et des groupes ethniques, comme en t�moigne le cas �tudi�. Le mod�le du parc national repose sur un id�al de nature distincte de l'humain, qui l�gitime par exemple les r�installations forc�es, et s'appuie sur des hypoth�ses scientifiques issues de l'�cologie d'�quilibre. Des courants de pens�e scientifique plus r�cents proposent un contre-discours � l'id�al d'�quilibre, et cette nouvelle science de la complexit� est esquiss�e et appliqu�e dans une �valuation des syst�mes de gestion de jure et de facto pr�valant dans le parc. Il est conclu que la science de la complexit� parvient � saisir la r�alit� o� les interactions entre les syst�mes socio-�cologiques d�passent les limites fixes du parc, mais qu'il y a un long chemin � parcourir entre la th�orie et la pratique.
