In den letzten Jahren sind auf diesem Gebiet eine Vielzahl von Verfahren bekannt geworden, die in einem Buch zusammengefaBt, dem Fachmann bisher nicht zuganglich waren. Das gilt vor allem fur die Behandlung synthetischer J!'asern. Auf die textilchemi schen Grundlagen der einzelnen Verfahren wurde nur so weit eingegangen, als es fur das Verstandnis des Ablaufes der Prozesse notwendig erschien. Auch bei den Apparate- und Maschinenkonstruktionen wurden aus Platzgrunden nur jeweils Prototypen eingehender beschrieben und auf ahnliche Konstruktionen anderer Hersteller verwiesen. In gleicher Weise wurde auch bei der Beschreibung der Farbstoffe und Textilveredlungsmittel verfahren. Allen Fachkollegen mochte ich an dieser Stelle fiir die wertvollen Hinweise und den Farbstoff-, Textilveredlungsmittel- und Maschinenhersteller fur die umfassenden Informationen danken, ohne die das Buch nicht moglich gewesen ware.
