Ask and it is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires presents teachings by the husband-wife spiritual duo Esther and Jerry Hicks. They put forth their doctrines with the help of a non-physical entity called Abraham, a figure which is used in much of their works.

The book operates on the premise that people are capable of shaping a life of happiness and contentment for themselves based on the powers of positive thinking. Not taking into account factors like wealth and power, everyone is entitled to a life that is joyous and fulfilling. However, we are not aware that there are cosmic laws in play which dictate the course of events our lives take. By being in a positive state of mind we can help channel this energy and use it for our benefit.

Abraham is the name given by Esther to a group of spirits who deliver inspirational messages of joy and well-being. This new school of thought advocates a ?deliberate optimistic scheme of life?, as described by William James. Through Abraham, Esther and Jerry advice people to be happy because "the Universe adores you" and "you cannot die."

Ask and it is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires is divided into two parts. In the first part, Abraham presents teachings on many topics such as creating your own reality, emotional reactions, and dealing with unwelcome thoughts. In the second part, Abraham teaches processes such as Evaluating Dreams, The Prosperity Game, and Moving Up The Emotional Scale.

The book was published by Hay House in 2009, and is available in paperback.

About the Author

Esther and Jerry Hicks are the authors of over 700 books, DVDs and CDs, including the New York Times #1 bestseller Money and the Law of Attraction. Together they deliver the teachings of Abraham, a joyful, loving and witty non-physical group consciousness whom Esther calls 'infinite intelligence' and Jerry calls 'the purest form of love I've ever encountered'.
