About the Author, Andrea Grant
Andrea Grant is a burn survivor and advocate for fellow survivors. She was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida.
In August 2001, when she was 9, Andrea and her 11 year old brother, Kendell, were caught in a tragic gas explosion in their family home.
At Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, Andrea died. Doctors worked frantically to save her life. She survived! Hours later, she and her brother were air-lifted to Shriners Hospital in Galveston, Texas. While there, she endured months of pain, numerous surgeries and extensive physical therapy.
Ultimately, they BOTH survived!
- With the help of God and her strong mother, Andrea has blossomed into a beautiful young lady with confidence that you would not believe!
- In 2012, at 20 years old, Andrea put together a Christmas giveaway under the name 12 Families, One Movement. She reached out to the local community and helped 12 less fortunate families by providing clothes, shoes, toys-and most of all-love, during the holidays.
- In January 2014, Andrea started her foundation, Beyond Scars, with the goal of encouraging kids who are also burn survivors. Beyond Scars focuses on self-esteem, confidence and perseverance. Over the years, Beyond Scars has held many events and monthly support groups for local survivors.
- In addition to her role as a mentor, Andrea is a motivational speaker who focuses on confidence and self-esteem. She reminds audiences, "Look in the mirror. Find that one thing you love about yourself and build confidence around it." She has since used that phrase to encourage many.
- Andrea also started an apparel line that highlights inspirational tees for burn survivors and others. The profits are put directly back into her organization.

Williams, D. Nicole: - Coach D Nicole is passionate about helping, supporting and encouraging others within their personal and professional lives as well as within their business endeavors. As a transformational life coach, D Nicole is most loved for her wit, boisterous personality, direct and upfront coaching style, and generous, authentic smile. Through remarkable leadership and modest humility, Coach D Nicole has presented numerous audiences with the opportunity to confess their deepest challenges and concerns. Audiences very readily connect with Coach D as she never shies away from the opportunity to help others through sharing inspirational stories of her own! D Nicole holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. After having lived in various cities in Florida and Georgia, including Atlanta, Orlando and Tampa, Coach D Nicole has returned to her hometown using a widely-spread, highly supportive network as a platform upon which to bolster her emerging life coaching and training career. Since obtaining her formal certification as a Certified Professional Christian Life Coach, D Nicole has gone on to pursue her credential as a life coach trainer which positions her to guide aspiring coaches along their own coaching paths. The bulk of client list includes pastors and their leadership teams, various women's groups, politicians, entrepreneurs, other coaches and young women. She draws inspiration from the young ladies whom she mentors formally, and she seeks to give back the blessing of mentoring in ways not provided to her back in her youth. With these goals in mind, Coach D Nicole established Sh'Shares NETWORK as an agent for growth, support, and open dialogue with a focus on highlighting and promoting business success! Future plans include helping to build a healthy respect and admiration for the coaching profession within the North Florida market.
