Diese Einführung gibt einen Überblick über die wesentlichen Aspekte und Entwicklungen des Katastrophenmanagements. Sie bezieht sich in weiten Teilen auf das österreichische System, geht aber darüber hinaus auch ausführlich auf den europäischen und internationalen Kontext ein. Sie folgt im Aufbau dem Prinzip des "Comprehensive Emergency Management", das die Phasen Vermeidung, Vorsorge, Einsatz und Wiederherstellung integriert. Das Phänomen Katastrophe wird aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven beleuchtet. Insgesamt wurde der Versuch unternommen, das für Katastrophenmanager erforderliche Wissen aus unterschiedlichen Disziplinen in einem Handbuch zu kompilieren. Das Buch soll als Lehr- und Nachschlagewerk für die Arbeit von Katastrophenmanagern dienen, will darüber hinaus aber das spannende Thema Katastrophenmanagement auch sonstigen Interessierten näher bringen.

About The Author

Siegfried Jachs ist seit über 20 Jahren in der Bundesverwaltung in Österreich in den Bereichen Zivil- und Katastrophenschutz, Krisenmanagement und Umfassende Landesverteidigung tätig und verfügt über weitreichende Kontakte zu Behörden und Einsatzorganisationen im Katastrophenschutz. Er ist Vorsitzender des Normungskomitees 246 "Integriertes Notfall- und Katastrophenmanagement" im Austrian Standards Institute und österreichischer Delegierter zu ISO TC 223 "Societal Security" und CEN TC 391. Siegfried Jachs ist Lehrbeauftragter an der Fachhochschule Wr. Neustadt (Masterstudiengang Strategisches Sicherheitsmanagement) sowie fallweise Vortragender an verschiedenen Bildungseinrichtungen wie der Sicherheitsakademie oder der Landesverteidigungsakademie.
