About The Book

Traveling can be stressful. Just as everyday life can as well. But what we choose to focus on can be the difference between our experiences being positive or negative. I'm an airline pilot with a purpose. That purpose is to remind those on my flights that "SMILES & frowns are both contagious...But you get to CHOOSE which one to spread...please CHOOSE to spread SMILES and have a blessed day!"
I never know what life stresses my passengers or fellow crewmembers come to my plane with? Someone could be dealing with an argument with a loved one, health issues, financial stresses, traffic, or just getting from the curb to the airplane and all that is involved with that. And by no means do I pretend those challenges aren't real. But I do believe how we CHOOSE to respond to the realities of life events is a choice. I'm not saying that choice is always easy to smile at, but it definitely makes it more manageable when we find the positives.
There's an old joke...'what's the difference between a pilot and a jet engine?...when you turn off the engine it stops whining.' Whenever complaints would come up at work, I'd remind those that no one forced us to be there today. We choose to show up, so let's also choose to make it a great day. And the more people around us who join the positive focus, the better we all handle the stresses & hiccups that come with travel (and life).
Traveling is just one part of my life for work. My most important role is Dad & husband. When I found out I was becoming a Dad I was terrified how I would raise this amazing creation since I didn't have a healthy example of a parent growing up. Not knowing how to be a parent, I went back to focusing on the positives. I started finding positive quotes and putting them into a file that I would hope to find & reference when different life challenges came up raising my child at various stages. Eventually my file grew to the size of a book. So I organized them into topics/chapters. Finally one day I made it into a book for my son. It was meant as just a gift for him. But friends heard of it and a few that were going through some tough chapters of life asked for a copy. One who was going through cancer said it helped them a lot. And so did others. They encouraged me to share this with others so here we are. Hopefully you can find some help in these pages that get your focus on the positive and that helps you SMILE...and then you can go spread that smile!
