"Insightful, heartwarming, and it can help so many people." - John Quiones, Emmy-winning ABC News Correspondent and host of What Would You Do?
After more than fifty years of marriage, Michael J. Lyons knows what lasts. In this warm, practical guide, he distills a lifetime of love into sixteen simple principles - each beginning with the letter C - that describe the habits, attitudes, and choices that help marriages endure: from Commitment and Communication to Candor, Consistency, and Celebration. With a foreword by What Would You Do? Host and ABC News correspondent John Quiones, this is the book for every couple who wants to build something lasting - one small, necessary choice at a time. Because a happy marriage is not found. It is built.
Lyons, Michael J.: - "Michael J. Lyons grew up in suburban Philadelphia. At age nine his family relocated to Paris, where he landed his first acting role, sharing a scene with Tony Curtis in Paris When It Sizzles. That early spark never left him. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Michael built a distinguished business career in senior roles with prestigious multinational organizations, including Carlson Wagonlit Travel and Reed Exhibitions. But even as his corporate career accelerated, he never abandoned his first love. Living near New York City gave him access to auditions, and by the 1990s he was appearing in national commercials and earning roles in films and on television. His screen credits include All My Children, The Sixth Sense, Outsiders, House of Cards, Veep, and We Own This City, along with a long-running recurring role on What Would You Do? Michael is a professional speaker and authored the book Set Yourself Free: Daydream It... Believe It... Achieve It! - a practical and inspiring guide to breaking through limitations and pursuing long-held daydreams. In 2020, he launched the Lessons from Leaders podcast, drawing candid insights from CEOs, entrepreneurs, and industry visionaries. His screenplay Father John has earned award recognition, and his country song "Ain't Too Old to be a Country Star" is available on all major streaming platforms. Michael and his wife Lorie, married since 1974, have built a life anchored in love and faith. Together they raised three children and have been blessed with seven grandchildren. He lives in the Philadelphia area."
Quiñones, John: - "John Quiñones is one of the most distinguished names in American broadcast journalism. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, he grew up in a Spanish-speaking household and did not learn English until he started school at age six. At thirteen, after his father lost his job, his family joined a caravan of migrant farmworkers, traveling to Michigan and Ohio to harvest crops. Those formative experiences planted the seeds of something remarkable - a relentless work ethic, a deep empathy for the human condition, and an unwavering belief in the power of education. After participating in the Upward Bound program, John earned his way to St. Mary's University and later to the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. In 1982, he joined ABC News, beginning a journey that would take him around the world and into some of the most pivotal stories of our time. Over more than forty years at ABC, he has reported for World News Tonight, 20/20, Nightline, and Good Morning America, earning seven national Emmy Awards along the way.In 2008, he became the host of What Would You Do? - a hidden-camera program that explores how ordinary people respond to ethical dilemmas in everyday life. Throughout his years on What Would You Do?, John has inspired audiences around the globe, encouraging empathy, courage, and honest conversation about how we choose to treat one another. It is no coincidence that a man who has spent his career asking What Would You Do? would find common ground with a book about the choices that define a marriage.John Quiñones is, at his core, a man who believes character matters - and that is exactly why his voice belongs at the beginning of this one."
