El Turista es el asesino en serie perfecto. Para empezar, no firma sus crímenes y tampoco lanza desafíos a los investigadores, pues dejarse atrapar no entra en sus planes. Carlotto, Massimo: - Massimo Carlotto (Padua, 1956) es uno de los autores italianos más asentados en el terreno de la novela negra, y se le incluye en la corriente mediterránea junto a Vázquez Montalbán, Jean-Claude Izzo, Petros Márkaris o Andrea Camilleri. Debuta en 1994 con su novela autobiográfica Il fuggiasco (El fugitivo). En España se han publicado cinco novelas protagonizadas por Marco Buratti, alias «el Caimán», un detective que víctima de un error judicial ha pasado siete años en prisión acusado de pertenencia a banda armada, inspirado en cierto modo en la propia vida de Carlotto. También es autor de textos dramáticos, para la radio, ensayos, novelas gráficas, cuentos y guiones para cine y TV.
