The agricultural sector of Uttar Pradesh, commonly known as the “granary of the nation”, suffers from socio-economic disparities and regional inequalities despite being endowed with a variety of natural resources. Agrarian Economy of Uttar Pradesh examines the issues that have kept agriculture and farmers in Uttar Pradesh repressed in the past decades, suggesting policy interventions that will enhance the growth of the agriculture sector and assist in generating farmers' income. It focuses primarily on agricultural growth and variability, sources of agricultural growth, nature and extent of crop diversification, rural infrastructure and its impact on agricultural growth as well as diversification at districts, regional levels and agro-climatic zones. Moreover, the farmers' perspective and awareness about agricultural risk and insurance at the farm-household level have also been analysed by using primary information. The book is an ideal resource for policymakers, academicians, researchers and institutions.
