About The Book

The main objective of producing this book is to reawaken the teachers, educational administrators and parents to the challenge of great ‘creativity-deficit’ prevalent in the Indian educational system. Researches done in the past hundred years have demonstrated that the teachers at all levels of education are not properly equipped with the necessary ideas, skills and methodology to take up the roles of releasing the creative potential of the children and youth. The organizational and intellectual climate of educational institutions do not provide requisite opportunities and support for inquiry and unfettered expression of unusual ideal by the students. The book Education for Development of Talent and Creativity attempts to acquaint the teachers with the changing concept of talent and creativity and also with the activities and devices that enable the teachers to nurture students’ talent and creative thinking abilities to make them willing problem-solvers and active investigators. It emphasizes that open climate and smart environment empower learners to express their views and ideas without any feeling of inhibition and consternation. The book presents valuable material on the power and role of questioning in pedagogy, which would assist the teachers in understanding the relation between questioning and creative thinking. The book also highlights the fact that teachers need to know how to prepare and use the text material to stimulate learners’ creativity. This book will be of immense help to students, teachers and researchers in the field of education. It would also attract the attention of those who want to know how to develop creativity in children and groom their talents.

About The Author

Umrao Singh Chaudhari, is former Vice-Chancellor and retired Professor of Education of Devi Ahilya University, Indore (Madhya Pradesh). He has done his postdoctoral research in the University of Pittsburgh (USA), under Indo-American fellowship programme in 1982. He has to his credit seven books on Education and Culture apart from around 200 research and theoretical papers published in international and national journals of great repute. Prof. Chaudhari was nominated as Member of the Governing Council of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India for two consecutive terms from 1999 to 2005. He is a winner of Dr. Harisingh Gaur Award instituted by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. He was also nominated as Member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Educational Psychology, published by the Princeton University (USA). Presently, he is a nominated Member of the State Level Coordination Committee for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal.
