Indian English Fiction in the New Millennium has brought about many avenues before the human race. It has opened a new vista of cultural confluence by winning prestigious Booker Prizes for The Inheritance of Loss written by Kiran Desai, and The White Tiger written by Aravind Adiga. Kiran Desai’s novel juxtaposes three worlds: the Colonial world of Patel’s youth, the Postcolonial India of his retirement, and the globalized world of Biju in America. The story moves between New York and Kalimpong with scenes that contrast the life of illegal immigrants in the foreign land and the growing unrest among the people in the native land. The novel spans two continents and three generations and presents people as ultimately frail human beings struggling in search of love and happiness. Humanity is and studied in totality in global context and not as an isolated unit. The White Tiger depicts a contrast between an India of Light and an India of Darkness. The Last Man in Tower is a saga of social righteousness. It is a suspense-filled story of money and power, luxury and deprivation. Sea of Poppies presents the plight of farmers in colonial India of nineteenth century. Ships That Pass is a story of love and mystery. It is a piece of literature that communicates Shashi Deshpande’s moral vision. Remaking a Malgudi reviews the traces of postcolonialism which are still lingering in the twenty-first century. In God’s Little Soldier the writer points out the need to redefine the way in which the faith is seen in our times.
