About The Book

Inspite of tremendous amount of research in the field of leucoderma (vitiligo) during the last few decades, most of the patients and general public still consider that leucoderma is an incurable disease. This is probably due to lack of knowledge and paucity of literature available to general public specially to patients. This book describes the different ways of presentation of leucoderma at different places of body with details of different treatments available for treating the disease. Written in a simple language with lots of photographs taken by the author himself. The expected natural course and etiopathogenic mechanism for development of leucoderma has also been described in detail. The book has been divided into 12 chapters. The book will undoubtedly serve the educational need of all those who wish to know about leucoderma specially the general public and the patients suffering from leucoderma/vitiligo. It may also be useful to practicing dermatologists, physicians and postgraduate students.

About The Author

Dr. Ramji Gupta, a consultant dermatologist at Escorts Heart Institute and VIMHANS, had earlier been at AIIMS and Holy Family Hospital. Due to his passion for writing and research he is widely known in the academic circle. He has authored and co-authored five books on Dermatology. Three books, namely Multiple Choice Questions in Dermatology and Venereology (3rd edition), Illustrated Textbook of Dermatology (3rd edition) and Textbook of Dermatology (2nd edition) are very popular among the undergraduate medical students and practitioners. Another book Skin and Hair, in Health and Disease: Some Truth, Some Myth (2nd edition) is a masterpiece for educating general public. He has also authored a book for teaching dermatology to the students of Homeopathy entitled Textbook of Dermatology for Homeopaths. He has published more than 60 research papers in various national and international journals. His co-pioneering work in developing Dexamethasone-Cyclophosphamide Pulse therapy (DCP) has proved to be curative in the treatment of pemphigus and other auto-immune disorders. It has been recognized at both national and international level. Dr. Gupta is recipient of IADVL National GSK Oration Award (2005), DMA Dr. GB Jain Pawan Kumari Oration Award (2004) and DMA Best Medical Photography Award (1988).
