The First Edition of the book, S. Radhakrishnan: His Life and Works (2006) received an overwhelming response from the readers. This Second Revised Edition has been enlarged by adding one more chapter, entitled “Ideas and Ideals: A Creative Quantum” and making suitable changes in Glossary, Bibliography and Index, commensurate with the new Edition. Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, whose birthday in India is celebrated as “Teachers’ Day”, was an international scholar face of India. As the second President of India, he was acclaimed as an eminent statesman, and as a teacher-leader he is remembered as a ‘philosopher-savant’. His writings and works are a glorious heritage for India. Dr. Radhakrishnan wrote when India faced dire times, virtually opening horizons for a new morning on an ancient land of Vedas, seers and saints. Not only did his work spread light in India, but it also built a platform for her to rise as a spokesperson for the conscience of the people of the world. Dr. Mamta Anand is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (English Language and Literature) in the Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing (Est. by MHRD, Govt. of India), Jabalpur. As a Fulbright Fellow (2008-2009), she did a commendable research on Ralph Waldo Emerson and S. Radhakrishnan at Harvard University with residence at Colgate University, N.Y., USA. For her research on Emerson she bagged an international award from the Washington D.C.-based Emerson Society in 2006. An alumna of Banasthali University, Rajasthan, and English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, Dr. Anand has to her credit several awards for creative writing. Her research papers have been presented abroad and published in journals of high acclaim. Her short stories appeared in journals of repute like Sahitya Akademi and Muse India and are taught in the University and colleges in India. Treasure a Tear, her stories and poems was published in 2014.
