The shadows of Gotham hide more than just Batman--these are the untold stories of the city's broken heroes, bold outlaws, and haunted legends.

This omnibus collects the complete first year of the acclaimed anthology series that dives deep into corners of Gotham City too dangerous or too personal for the spotlight. Featuring gripping tales from top-tier talent including Chip Zdarsky, Matthew Rosenberg, Vita Ayala, and Mark Russell, it showcases stories of Red Hood's painful reckoning with his past, Grifter's deadly entanglement with secret organizations, Batman's mystical team-ups, and even heartfelt moments with DC's Super-Pets. Bold, diverse, and action-packed, this is a sweeping collection of Gotham's many legends, where every vigilante has a voice, and every alley has a story.

Collects Batman: Urban Legends #1-16.

Chip Zdarsky is the award-winning illustrator and co-creator of Sex Criminals for Image Comics and has written Spider-Man: Life Story, Daredevil, and Howard the Duck for Marvel Comics, as well as Jughead for Archie Comics. He loves long walks in the park while listing his projects.

Matthew Rosenberg is the award-winning, deeply charming, moderately humorous, and disarmingly modest writer of What's the Furthest Place From Here? He has also co-created and written the series 4 Kids Walk into a Bank and We Can Never Go Home as well as worked on titles such as Uncanny X-Men, DC vs. Vampires, The Punisher, The Joker, Amazing Spider-Man, and lots of other stuff like that. Weirdly, he once co-wrote an album with a member of the Wu-Tang Clan. He was born and raised in New York City, where he still prowls the streets at night, striking fear into the hearts of no one.

Vita Ayala is a trans, nonbinary, Afro-Puerto Rican writer from New York City whose storytelling blends bold imagination with emotional depth. They have written acclaimed comics and prose for major publishers including Marvel, DC, Image, Vault, and Valiant, with a focus on character-driven narratives that explore identity, justice, and resilience. Before turning to writing full-time, Ayala held jobs ranging from museum security to baking, experiences that inform their rich, grounded storytelling. They are known for creating powerful, inclusive worlds where anyone can be a hero.

Mark Russell is an American writer of comics and satire, having made his DC Comics debut with the limited series Prez back in 2015. Since then, he has tackled projects such as The Flintstones and Exit, Stage Left! [P1] The Snagglepuss Chronicles, which earned him a GLAAD Award for Outstanding Comic in 2019. In 2023, he and collaborator Mike Allred were nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Limited Series for Superman: Space Age. Mark currently resides in Portland, Oregon.
