Decarbonization of Wastewater Pollutants as a Sustainable Solution: Developments in Wastewater Treatment Research and Processes explores eco-friendly techniques for treating wastewater, enabling the recycling of pollutants and managing residual wastes in a biologically acceptable manner. The book addresses current and emerging technologies for wastewater treatment and reuse, discussing their limitations and future potential. It examines the transformation of anthropogenic waste into value-added products, emphasizing the critical need to handle waste more sustainably to mitigate hazards to humans, animals, and the environment.

It delves into organic waste and fourth-generation biomass for targeted goods and provides insights into achieving full decarbonization by balancing residual emissions, including the carbon footprint of chemical use and transportation. The book covers technologies relevant to wastewater from municipal and industrial sources, as well as drinking water, and details physical, chemical, and thermal processes, making it indispensable for researchers in the field.

Das, Alok Prasad: - Dr. Alok Prasad Das received his PhDs in Biotechnology from Siksha O Anusandhan University, India, carried out most of his PhD work at CSIR-IMMT and received his M. Tech degree from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, India. Dr. Das's research focuses on Development of Bioleaching technologies for metal recovery and waste management. He has been associated with the development of a methodology whereby microbes could improve the biorecovery process of metals. In addition to this, he is also investigating advanced mineral processing technology with special emphasis on microbial resource recycling techniques, which are required for sustainable development and to accomplish present demand. This technology can be applied to other fields such as resource utilization, waste minimization and environmental remediation. His research interests also focus upon microbial biogeochemical cycling of manganese which has resulted in a number of key papers in the area (see S. Ghosh and A.P. Das 2018, Nature Scientific Report; Mohanty et al., 2018, Rev in Env Sc & Biotech, Das et al., 2011, Biores Tech- 85 citations). His current Google Scholar: Citations is 600 and h-index 13. Dr. Alok has more than 10 years of research experience on bioleaching, bioremediation, mineral recovery techniques with expertise on microbial culture isolation and screening studies, strain development and optimization studies for efficient mineral recovery.

Mishra, Sunanda: - Sunanda Mishra is a PhD research scholar. She has 5 years of research experience and published several Books, Journal Articles, and Editorial member of several reputed journals. Currently her major work involves Heavy metal pollution, Environmental Biotechnology, and Environmental Microplastic and Microfiber Pollution and management, Sustainability.

Shah, Maulin P.: -

Dr. Maulin P. Shah is an active researcher and microbial biotechnologist with diverse research interest. His primary interest is the environment, the quality of our living resources and the ways that bacteria can help to manage and degrade toxic wastes and restore environmental health. Consequently, His work has been focused to assess the impact of industrial pollution on microbial diversity of wastewater following cultivation dependant and cultivation independent analysis.
