A huge lacuna exists between the teaching and learning of theory and skills that architecture and design students learn in class, studio and other subject books. Worksheets for Budding Designers attempts to rectify that.

It is a unique activity book that takes one through basic design skills and essentials in a more direct, fun and action-oriented way. It provides a new approach to lettering, sketching and drawing, anthropometrics, colours, dimensioning, compositions, furniture layout, as well as practical aspects like cost and vernacular names of elements and techniques.

About the Author: Deepika Gandhi has over twenty years of experience in architectural pedagogy. She held the charge of Director, Le Corbusier Centre (2015–22) and was formerly Associate Professor at Chandigarh College of Architecture. She was also part of the team that prepared the dossier for the transnational serial nomination for World Heritage for the Capitol Complex, Chandigarh.

She co-authored Sukhna, Sublime Lake of Chandigarh (2009) and co edited Le Corbusier Rediscovered: Chandigarh and Beyond (2017), besides creating booklets for heritage sensitisation for schools in Chandigarh.

She supervised the restoration of the Jeanneret House, where she curated the Pierre Jeanneret Museum, Le Corbusier Centre and its canteen block, and established the Sukhna Gallery at Sukhna Lake.

She actively promotes Chandigarh’s heritage through regular articles in newspapers and as the Co-convenor of INTACH, Chandigarh and the Organising Secretary of Chandigarh Tree Lovers.
