2] Development process has been an untouched area so far a political science textbook is concerned. Books on basic topics like Indian government and politics, comparative politics etc. have been written and published for UG and PG or UPSC markets in abundance across Hindi speaking belt in India. But there has been a dearth of a textbook on development process as such in detail.  
Currently, the students make their own notes from the books published on the various aspects and events of the development of Indian political events and social movements but always look for an exclusive book on the process of development in contemporary Indian political scenario. 

3] This is a contributory volume. This book introduces the students to the conditions, contexts and forms of political contestation over development paradigms and their bearing on the retrieval of democratic voice of citizens.
Under the influence of globalization, development processes in India have undergone transformation to produce spaces of advantage and disadvantage and new geographies of power.
A variety of protest movements emerged to challenge this development paradigm that evidently also weakens the democratic space so very vital to the formulation of critical consensus.

Dr Abhay Prasad Singh is Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, PG DAV College, University of Delhi. He has been teaching to undergraduate students for about 15 years. He also teaches PG students. He is a member on the syllabus committee of Political Science, University of Delhi.

The contributors are on the faculty of Political science in various colleges of Delhi University,  namely, PG DAV college, ARSD college, Dayal Singh college, Sri Aurbindo college, Shaheed Bhagat Singh college, SPM College, Satyawati college and Department of Political Science, Delhi University.
