About The Book

This anthology of poems comprises about a hundred poems and is divided into two sections. The first section consisting of seventy poems presents the poet as a master artist maintaining superbly an internal rhythm of word and meaning consistently. As the title suggests itself, the poems penned by the poet “sprout” from within the poet’s heart. The poetic craft used is simple, lucid and depicts his psychological states, he passes through. The book also metamorphoses the effect of love on the poet. The sweet and painful memories naturally abound as the poet feels as being elevated in his spiritual status. The Novel Verses in first section and “A Cluster of Lyrics” in second Section deal with various themes and have worldly vision as the poet uses various cultural and literary approaches to ultimately find his kingdom of heaven within. This composition will inspire the readers and take all of them towards the smooth journey of life in the auspicious company of the poet.

About The Author

A.N. Dhar holds a Doctorate in English Literature, and a Diploma in English Studies from the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages, Hyderabad (now elevated to a University). A well known scholar and former Head of the Post Graduate Department of English, University of Kashmir, he was awarded prestigious UGC Emeritus Fellowship for 2 years following his retirement, which he held at the University of Jammu during the years 1990-1992. Subsequently, he held a Senior Fellowship in Literature from the Dept. of Culture, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India for another 2 years (1997-1999). Based at Jammu since 1990, Dr. Dhar remains actively engaged in literary and socio-cultural pursuits including the programmes of Bhagwan Gopinath ji Trust, Jammu. Other published works of Dr. A.N. Dhar are: Mysticism in Literature (1985); Mysticism Across Cultures: Studies on Select Poets and Saints (2002), reprinted (2009); Country of the Soul: An English Translation of Bimla Raina’s Kashmiri Verses, and Poetry of Meditation on the Sacred: An English Translation of Wali Mohammed Aseer Kishtawari’s Kashmiri Verses, (2012)—all published by M/s Atlantic Publishers & Distributors (P) Ltd., New Delhi.
