“Half of happiness is the recognition that we are happy; and half of misery is the forgetting how many causes of happiness we have.” For many, the quest for happiness is a never-ending journey. The Pursuit of Happiness by Daniel G. Brinton transforms the reader's understanding of true happiness and combines personal anecdotes, scientific research and profound insights to help uncover the mysteries of happiness. First published in 1893, The Pursuit of Happiness goes beyond generic advice and deconstructs its fundamental existence, explaining its definition, relative value, distribution as well as the role of our mental or bodily constitution and physical surroundings. From nurturing meaningful relationships to discovering your life's purpose, Brinton provides actionable steps with a delightful blend of wisdom, humour and relatability. Whether you're feeling stuck, seeking fulfilment or simply curious about the nature of happiness, this book is your guide to unlocking the secrets of lasting happiness and inner joy.
Brinton was born in Thornbury Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Yale University in 1858, Brinton studied at Jefferson Medical College for two years and spent the next year traveling in Europe. He continued his studies at Paris and Heidelberg.
