Mujumdar, Aarati: - Aarati Mujumdar is Assistant Professor and Assistant Head of Department at Modern College of Business and Science, Muscat. She holds PhD and MPhil degrees from the MS University of Baroda, India. She specializes in the area of writing skills, and both her dissertations are on Psycholinguistics, exploring the cognitive processes of writing compositions in a second language.

Her total teaching experience spans more than 26 years; she has spent 23 years teaching English Language and Literature at the Postgraduate, Undergraduate, and Foundation levels at her department in MS University. Since September 2014, she has been teaching at the Modern College of Business and Science in Muscat. She is an authorized and a recognized guide to supervise doctoral students and has guided two students toward their PhD degrees. In addition, she has evaluated numerous MPhil and PhD dissertations.

She researches extensively and has made presentations at numerous international forums. Her research papers are published in reputed journals. Currently, she is a member of the institutional research team of her College at Muscat. Her areas of professional interest are developing Critical thinking in the language classrooms, Psycholinguistics, Bilingualism, and developing methodologies in the teaching of English as a second language.

Her book (co-authored) Business Communication: Techniques and Methods (2010) is being presently used in various university departments. She has also co-authored four books on Academic English-- Basics of Academic English 01 & 02 (2012 and 2013) and English for Academic Purposes 01 & 02 (2010 and 2011). MS University of Baroda used all the four books for their General English program.

While in India, she contributed to the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) by way of counseling MA and BA students and writing units for the CTE Course (Certificate for Teaching of English). She was a teacher educator at the Regional Institute of English, South Zone, Bangalore, for two years (1996-98) and has conducted numerous teacher training workshops for college teachers across states in India.

She was the joint recipient of the FORTELL-British Council Award for ELT 1993. She is a life member of TESOL International, ASIA TEFL, and many language and literature associations. Her outreach activities also include imparting English speaking and writing courses to various corporate houses in Baroda. Apart from academics, she writes poems, loves gardening, traveling, and playing games such as cricket, tennis, and table tennis.
