IndividueIle, d. h. sich nur auf einen bestimmten Stoff be ziehende, oder GrundgroBen, aus denen durch Deduktion eine ganze Reihe von Fachkenntnissen abgeleitet werden kann. Das Ziel einer modernen Vorlesung Uber anorganische Chemie kann nur sein, eine Auswahl und ZusammensteIlung jener grundlegenden Daten zu bieten, aus denen solche Deduktionen moglich sind. In den anorganisch-chemischen Vorlesungen solI sich der Studierende anstatt der voneinander oft unabhangigen Daten den Platz der Ele mente im periodischen System, woraus sich die Elektronen-Verteilung des freien Atoms unmittelbar ergibt, ferner die ungefahren Dimensio nen der Atome oder wenigstens ihre Dimensionsverhaltnisse und end lich die annahernden Werte der Elektronegativitaten einpragen. Damit gewinnt der Student solche Rahmen, in die er die zahlenmaBigen Fest steIlungen der anorganischen Chemie schon leichter, weit logischer, ein ordnen kann. Heute stehen uns die allgemeinen theoretischen Grundlagen der an organischen Chemie, welche nur teilweise physikalisch-chemisch sind, bereits zur VerfUgung. 1m Besitz dieser neuen Grundlagen ist es not wendig, die Vorlesung der anorganischen Chemie umzugestalten. Diese Umgestaltung ist um so mehr notig, als der fUr das Studium der anorganischen Chemie vorgesehene Zeitraum, obwohl sich die Kenntnisse unaufhorlich vermehren, nicht verlangert werden kann. Auch schon deshalb muB im Aufbau der Vorlesung bei der Auswahl des Stoffes ein radikales Prinzip zur Geltung kommen."
