Das Buch enthält den Stoff einer einsernestrigen Vorlesung von 2 Seme- sterwochenstunden für Studenten der Elektrotechnik des 7. Semesters. Damit sind der Umfang gegeben und die Voraussetzungen, mit denen ge- rechnet wird, d. h. es werden Kenntnisse der physikalischen Grundlagen von Halbleiterbauelementen, deren Herstellung und Eigenschaften sowie der Schaltungsanalyse vorausgesetzt. Es ist die hauptsächliche Absicht von Vorlesung und Lehrbuch, zu einem Verständnis für den Zusammenhang zwischen den Eigenschaften des Spei- cherelementes (Ferritkern, Halbleiterkippstufe) und den Kenndaten eines Speichers als Systembaustein hinzuführen. Die dazu notwendigen Begr- fe und Kennwerte werden im ersten Abschnitt eingeführt. In den nächsten Abschnitten folgen die einzelnen Speichertechniken. Dabei sollen im Haupt- teil jeweils die Wirkungsweise typischer Ausführungsformen nahegebracht werden und als Ergänzung und Abrundung einige Sonderbauformen mit den Vor- und Nachteilen gegenüber der Standardtechnik Platz finden, haupt- sächlich in der Absicht, eine Vorstellung zu geben von der Breite der Möglichkeiten, aber auch vom Aufwand, um bestimmte Eigenschaften zu er- zielen. Der Speicherperipherie ist ein getrennter Abschnitt gewidmet, einmal deswegen, weil ihr im Zusammenspiel zwischen Speicherelernent, Gesamtspeicher und Rechenanlage eine besondere Bedeutung zukommt, an- dererseits, weil sie in modifizierter Form bei allen Speicherverfahren wiederkehrt und oft ausschlaggebend die Wirtschaftlichkeit beeinflu t. Im Interesse einer lehrhaften Behandlung des Stoffes entspricht der Um- fang eines Kapitels nicht unbedingt dessen augenblicklicher technischer Bedeutung.
