Das autogene Training gehOrt zu meinem Leben. Ich habe es Anfang der 50er Jahre bei I.H. Schultz, dem Berliner Nervenarzt und Begriinder des AT, erlemt. Er machte mich mit den physiologisch-psychologischen Grundlagen vertraut. Ibm verdanke ich, daB ich diese Technik schon friih in meiner Praxis bei vegetativ gestOrten Patienten einsetzen konnte. Ab 1956 fiihrte ich es bereits in der Gruppenarbeit -im Rahmen der Volkshochschule Leverkusen und ab 1960 informativ in der BRD - durch. Bald kam die Frage nach der Anwendung des AT bei Kindem auf. Ich hatte in Berlin- in der Bayemallee - mit I.H. Schultz dariiber ausfiihrliche Gesprache. Er ermunterte mich, das AT bei Kindem anzuwenden, denn er bestatigte mir damals auch, daB das AT seinen Stellenwert an der Basis der Gesundheitserziehung hat. Und ich hatte Erfoig -bei unruhigen, nervosen Kindem, aggressiv ubersteuerten, kon- taktarmen, psychosomatisch gestorten Kindem, bei allen, die sich nicht konzentrieren und daher nicht lemen konnten. Kinder mit funktionellen Organstorungen wurden ebenfalls angesprochen. Trotz anfanglicher Bedenken bewahrte sich das AT auch beijiingeren Kindem, das ich bier situations-und altersgerecht anlegte - ich horchte in die Wiinsche der Kinder hinein. Meine Aufgabe, ihnen zu helfen, korperlich-seelisch gesunde Menschen zu werden, lieB mich nicht mehr los. Langsam aber stetig vollzog sich die Entwicklung des AT bei Kindem, das sich damals wie heute im Rahmen der Gesundheitsvorsorge und in der Therapie bewahrt.
