Die Fülle ihrer Forschungs- ergebnisse in der Analyse seiner Phänomene ist ungeheuer. Aber die Spezialisierung zeitigte, wie überall, so auch hier ihre Gefahren: viele Theorien machten sich anheischig, aus engen Einzelbefunden das Ganze zu erklären, die Sprache der einen blieb anderen weitgehend unverständlich und denen, die täglich im Kampf mit dem Krebs stehen, den Ärzten, war die lebendige Beziehung zu dem Erforschten vielfach versagt. Je grö er die Fülle analytischer Ergebnisse - sie ist schier unübersehbar geworden - desto grö er wird das Bedürfnis nach Synthese, desto verständlicher der Wunsch nach einer Ausdeutung der Befunde für Gesundheit und Krankheit des Menschen. Analyse und Synthese, beide zusammen, von der Krebskrankheit über alle Formen der Verursachung, Erkennung und Bekämpfung bis zu ihrer Verhütung, der Versuch einer solchen Gesamtschau aller Krebsfragen, alles vom kranken Menschen her gesehen und immer wieder auf den Menschen bezogen, liegt unseres Wissens noch nicht vor.
