Der vorliegende Band II Einrichtungen und Systeme des Werkes Daten- iibertragung - Nachrichtentechnik in Datenfernverarbeitungssystemen enthiiJt eine Darstellung der technischen Mittel fUr den Datentransport auf elektrischem Wege; er schlieBt damit an den Band I Grundlagen an, in dem die fiir die Dateniibertragung bedeutsamen nachrichtentechni- schen Grundbegriffe und' Voraussetzungen zusammengestellt sind. 1m Vordergrund der Betrachtungen stehen die Dateniibertragungs- einrichtungen selbst. Besonderer Wert wurde auf die Darstellung solcher Merkmale und Eigenschaften gelegt, welche fiir den Anwender von Bedeutung sind wie z. B. die Schnittstellen zwischen den Dateniiber- tragungseinrichtungen beim Teilnehmer und den Datenendeinrichtungen und die verschiedenen Ausfiihrungen von Modems; aber auch die Daten- iibertragungseinrichtungen innerhalb von Datennetzen werden behan- delt. Ebenso wird ein Dberblick iiber die Vermittlungseinrichtungen in Datennetzen gegeben. SchlieBlich werden die wesentlichen Merkmale der Datennetze selbst geschildert. Eigens eingegangen wird auf die Beson- derheiten der Dateniibertragung iiber Kurzwellen-Funkverbindungen, welche fiir spezielle Anwendungsfalle, besonders fiir den Einsatz in mobilen Anlagen (Schiffsfunk, Funkwagen flir zivilen und militarischen Einsatz), Bedeutung haben. Eine Erlauterung der Kriterien und Hilfs- mittel fiir die Dberwachung und Wartung schlieBt die Darstellung der technischen Mittel fiir die Dateniibertragung ab. In einem Anhang sind die zahlreichen internationalen und nationalen Vereinbarungen und Richtlinien auf dem Gebiet der Datenlibertragung nach dem Stand von Friihjahr 1976 zusammengestellt. Auch der vorliegende Band II ist das Ergebnis gemeinsamer Arbeit mit den Herren Dr. -Ing. Sigmar Griitzmann, Dr. -Ing. Joachim Petersen, Dipl. -Ing. Herbert Finck und Dr. rer. nat. Hans Heinrich Voss.
