In der Fertigungstechnik ist die Geometrie der Werkstiickflachen neben den Zerspanungsuntersuchungen und dem Austauschbau wenig beachtet worden. 1m wesentlichen verharrte man bei den einfachen Flachen, wie Ebene, Zylinder, Kegel, Schraubenflache; nur der Evolventenflache wurde wegen ihrer Anwendung am Zahnrad groBe Aufmerksamkeit ge- widmet. Indessen fOlidert die Gestaltung heute zahllose Formen, um die Be- dingungen der Gestaltfestigkeit, der Stromung, der Handhabung und anderes mehr zu erfiillen; diese meist unregelmaBigen Flachen miissen heute ebenso wirtschaftlich hergestellt werden wie die anderen. Die Frage ist aber, ob der Formenwelt des Gestalters eine gleiche des Fertigers ent- spricht. Das ist der Natur der Sache nach nicht ohne weiteres zu er- warten, es sei denn, daB man zu unwirtschaftlichen Verfahren greift. Da- her gilt es, die mogliche Formenwelt der Fertigung an Hand der ihr zur Verfiigung stehenden Mechanismen darzustellen. Ihre Kenntnis befahigt den Gestalter von Maschinen-und Gerateteilen, sich nach den Moglich- keiten der Fertigung zu richten; sie befahigt den Werkzeugmaschinen- konstrukteur, rasch mit einer geometrischen Formungsaufgabe fertig zu werden, sei es, daB er eine Form geometrisch erzeugt, sei es, daB er sie einem Bezugsformstiick maBgetreu oder in geometrischer Verzerrung nach- formt. SchlieBlich ist es auch fUr den Fertigungsingenieur wichtig, einen Uberblick iiber "Die geometrischen Verhaltnisse bei der Herstellung unregelmaBiger Flachen" zu gewinnen. So gehort die Arbeit GRES zu den Elementen der Fertigung und zur Systematik ihrer Verfahren. Es darf daher gehofft werden, daB sie sowohl in der Ausbildung der Ingenieure als auch in der Praxis ihren Nutzen erweisen wird. 1m Januar 1953.
