Histogenetisch bedeutet dort eine Einteilung der Geschwiilste nach den Geweben, von denen sie sich ableiten. Dieses in der allgemeinen Geschwulst- pathologie bis auf wenige, nicht rubrizierbare Geschwiilste konsequent durch- gefiihrte Prinzip ist einfach, iibersichtlich und vor allem im Hinblick auf dienoch ungeklarte Frage der Geschwulstentstehung nicht vorgreifend. Die genannten Ein- teilungen der Hirngeschwiilste sind demgegeniiber cytogenetisch, teils embryogene- tisch. Ihre Bezeichnung als histogenetische Klassifikation beruht auf der engen Anlehnung der einzelnen Ordnungen an die Histogenese des Zentralorgans und dem Versuch der Ableitung der einzelnen Tumorarten von ihren verschiedenen Differenzierungsstufen. DaB die Einordnung und Benennung der Hirngeschwiilste nach den ihrem Zellbild vornehmlich in der Metallimpragnation entsprechenden Reifestadien der zentralnervosen Glia genetische Vorstellungen iiber ihre Ent- stehung fixiert, die nicht durch wissenschaftliche Erfahrungen gestiitzt werden, ist von den Autoren (s. a. ZULCH) bald erkannt worden und hat zu einer ausdriick- lichen Ablehnung derartiger Assoziationen gefiihrt.
