Dafs durch die Aufstellung mechanischer Regeln und von For- mularen das verstandnislose Arbeiten auch bei solchen befordert werde, bei denen die Kenntnis des theoretischen Zusammenhanges des Verfahrens erwartet werden mufs, ist nicht zu befUrchten; denn man kann in der Praxis sehr oft die Erfahrung machen, dafs gerade die, die zunachst nur die mechanische Anwendung der Methode der kleinsten Quadrate kennen lernen, nachher das regste Interesse zeigen, sie eingehend zu studiren. Auch wird es nur vortheilhaft sein, dafs der in der Praxis stehende Geodat nach den mechanischen Regeln und Formularen in vereinzelt vorkommenden Fallen arbeiten kann, ohne erst alle zu benutzenden Formeln zu entwickeln, und dafs er bei umfangreichen Arbeiten leicht Gehiilfen nach dem angegebenen Verfahren zur mechanischen AusfUhrung mancher Rechnungen ausbilden kann.
