Trotz der Vielseitigkeit des Gegenstandes und seinerWichtigkeit fUr jades wirtschaftliche Unternehmen wird den damit zusammen- hangenden Fragen meist nicht die gebuhrende Aufmerksamkeit zuteil. Das lallt sich an Inventuren und Rechnungsabschliissen, an Ertragsrechnungen und Vertragen leicht beweisen; das zeigen grundsatzliche Bewertungsfehler, falsche Abschreibungsverfabren, die Vernachlassigung der Heimfallast bei Konzessionsunternehmen und die Verwechselung von Betriebsausgaben und Anlagekosten, von Abschreibungen und Riicklagen. Auch folgender Fall, der einen als Theoretiker und Prak- tiker anerkannten Volkswirt jiingst veranlallte, eine Aullerung von mir herbeizufiihren, beleuchtet die herrschende Unklarheit: in einem viele Lander umspannenden Wirtschaftsvereine konnten bei Verhandlung eines wichtigen Gegenstandes Erorterungen iiber die Frage "Abschreibung oder Tilgung (Amortisation)" entstehen, obschon diese beiden Mallnahmen keineswegs wahl- weise in Betracht kamen, sondern iiberhaupt die Fragestellung faisch war. Auch herrscht in der Anwendung der Fachausdriicke Will- kiir; Wortunklarheit ist aber nicht nUl eine Folge, sondern - in verhangnisvollem Kreislauf - auch eine Ursache von Begriffsverwirrung. Vorwort VI leh war bestrebt, den Gegenstand mit gro13eren Wirtschafts- fragen in Beziehung zu setzen, gegebenenfalls allgemeine wirt- schaftliche Regeln abzuleiten und die Erfordernisse der An- wendung nirgends auLler Acht zu lassen; demgemii13 ist die Darstellung mit Beispielen und mit Anregungen fii.r den Gebraueh durchsetzt.
