This encyclopedia, edited by the past editors and founder of the Journal of Business Ethics, is the only reference work dedicated entirely to business and professional ethics. Containing over 2000 entries, this multi-volume, major research reference work provides a broad-based disciplinary and interdisciplinary approach to all of the key topics in the field. The encyclopedia draws on three interdisciplinary and over-lapping fields: business ethics, professional ethics and applied ethics although the main focus is on business ethics. The breadth of scope of this work draws upon the expertise of human and social scientists, as well as that of professionals and scientists in varying fields. This work has come to fruition by making use of the expert academic input from the extraordinarily rich population of current and past editorial board members and section editors of and contributors to the Journal of Business Ethics.

Dr. Deborah Poff holds the position of President and Vice-Chancellor at Brandon University in Manitoba. From 1994 to 2004, she was Vice-President Academic and Provost at the University of Northern British Columbia. She is the co-founder and Editor of the Journal of Business Ethics and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Academic Ethics. She is the Editor of Business Ethics in Canada and the Section Editor on Business and Economic Ethics of Encyclopedia of Applied Ethics published by Elsevier in 2012. She recently co-edited Citation Classics from the Journal of Business Ethics: Celebrating the First Thirty Years of Publication with Springer. Her areas of research are applied ethics and leadership studies.

Alex C. Michalos is Professor Emeritus in Political Science at the University of Northern British Columbia. He has published 22 books and over 90 refereed articles, and founded or co-founded 6 scholarly journals. He is the President of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO's Sectoral Commission on Natural, Social and Human Sciences, and a past President of Academy II (Humanities and Social Sciences) of the Royal Society of Canada, and of the International Society for Quality of Life Studies.
