Zentraler Bestandteil ist ein Verfahren zur inhaltlichen Beschreibung von Datenelementen mit Hilfe von Deskriptoren. Durch diese Vorgehensweise wird es möglich, auch gro e Mengen an Datenelementen inhaltlich zu vergleichen. Die Methode ist so konzipiert, da sie ohne gro e Mühe in bestehende Softwareentwurfswerkzeuge, z.B. Data Dictionaries, eingebaut werden kann. Die gute Verständlichkeit des Verfahrens hat dazu geführt, da zur Zeit verschiedene Unternehmen, Behörden und Unternehmensberatungen dabei sind, das Konzept praktisch zu realisieren. Die methodische und empirische Fundierung macht das Konzept nicht nur für Praktiker der Softwareentwicklung, sondern auch für Studenten der Wirtschaftsinformatik interessant.
