Es gibt kaum eine medi- zinische Disziplin, fUr die nicht in irgendeiner Form eine Infor- matikanwendung beschrieben wurde. Der Aufbau leistungsf!higer, in der Routine einsetzbarer informa- tionsverarbeitender Systeme stosst in der Praxis jedoch haufig auf Schwierigkeiten, die in den Eigenarten des Gebietes Medizin be- grUndet sind. Nichttriviale medizinische Probleme sind meistens durch hohe Komplexitat und schwere Formalisierbarkeit gekenn- zeichnet. Generelle Losungen in dem Sinne, dass ein informations- verarbeitendes System aus einer formalen Beschreibung einer nicht- trivialen medizinischen Fragestellung automatisch eine korrekte Losung erzeugt, sind in absehbarer Zeit nicht zu erwarten. Erfolgversprechender erscheint der Ansatz, die Anwendung der Infor- matik in der Medizin auf einwandfrei formalisierbare Problemstruk- turen zu beschranken, hierfUr Losungsmethoden zu erarbeiten und diese den anderen, in der Medizin bereits vorhandenen, nicht auf der Informatik beruhenden Methoden hinzuzufUgen. Die eigentliche Durchdringung des medizinischen Problems verbieibt beim Arzt, sei- nem Fachwissen und seiner richtigen Anwendung der Gesamtheit der bereitstehenden Methoden. Bei Letzterem kann die Informatik keine Hilfestellung geben. Sie kann jedoch soweit Methoden der Informatik angewandt werde- diese in einer fUr den Arzt geeigneten Form zur VerfUgung stellen.
