In meinem friiher erschienenen Buch "Grundlagen der Elementar- statistik - Beschreibende Verfahren" wurden wichtige statistische Para- meter und Verteilungen behandelt. Diese MaBzahlen und Verteilungen dienen vor aHem der Beschreibung einer statistischen Gesamtheit. Dabei wird angenommen, daB die statistischen Beobachtungsergebnisse schon vorliegen. In diesem Buch wird nun auf das Problem der Gewinnung statistischer Beobachtungsergebnisse eingegangen. Da in der Regel solches statistische Zahlenmaterial durch Reprasentativ- oder Stichprobenerhebungen gewon- nen wird, finden sich hier einige der wichtigsten Stichprobenverfahren. Dabei wurde auch versucht, neuere und neueste Verfahren einzubeziehen, die bisher nur in verstreuten Zeitschriftenartikeln zu finden sind. Es wurde wiederum angestrebt, die mathematischen Ableitungen vollstandig wiederzugeben, urn es auch einem mathematisch weniger geschulten Leser zu ermoglichen, Einblick in die Hintergriinde und Entstehungsursachen der angefiihrten mathematischen Formeln zu nehmen. Dadurch ist es ihm eher moglich, den Anwendungsbereich der einzelnen Verfahren selbstandig richtig abschlitzen zu konnen, was fUr die praktische Statistik sehr wichtig ist. Das Buch richtet sich deshalb vor aHem an den praktisch tatigen Statistiker und an jene, die sich in das Gebiet der Statistik einarbeiten mochten. Es soIl deshalb einen Platz zwischen den sehr hohe Anforde- rungen stellenden mathematischen Lehrbiichern und den einfachen ein- fiihrenden Texten finden. Dadurch sollte auch bei Nicht-Mathematikern das Verstiindnis mathematisch-statistischer Lehrbiicher erleichtert werden. Der Erfolg einer statistischen Stichprobenerhebung kann aber durch eine zweckmaBige Versuchsanordnung wesentlich gesteigert werden. Des- halb wurde auch kurz auf das Gebiet der Versuchsplanung eingegangen.
