1m Vorwort des Handbuches, Bandteil Ill, wurde bereits ausgeftihrt, wie das Stoff- gebiet der Eisen-Kohlenstoff-Legierungen aufgegliedert worden ist. Dabei wurde dem II. Band das Grundsatzliche der Konstruktion mit diesen Werkstoffen, die Anschnitt- Technik, die Form- und Kerntechnik und die Trocknung zugeordnet. Leider war auch bei Band II eine Aufteilung in zwei Teilbande notwendig, da nicht aIle Beitrage rechtzeitig zur Verftigung standen. Der vorliegende, zuerst erscheinertde Te- band II/2 bringt folgende Sonderformverfahren: . 1. Das Formen in Zementsand. 2. Die sogenannten nicht fest umreiBbaren GenauguBverfahren mit Formschale, Gips, vor .allem das CRONING-Verfahren, die Variationen nach SHAW und das FeinguB- verfahren. 3. Die Verfahren mittels Dauerformen im StandguB und bewegter Form. Hierzu gehoren zunachst die Verfahren mit keramischen Formstoffen und mit Kokillen, ferner die zur Zeit noch auf GS beschrankten Formen aus Graphit, der StrangguB sowie die Form- technik mittels Schleudern. 4. Die wichtigen VerbundguBverfahren: das UmgieBen, das ALFIN-Verfahren, der sogenannte Druck-Verbund und der allgemeine VerbundguB. Besonders aktuell sind die Darstellungen der Kernherstellung und Kerntrocknung, an die sich ein Abschnitt tiber die Trockenapparate anreiht, des sen Aufnahme mir notwendig erschien. An den SchluB dieses Teilbandes habe ich einen Beitrag tiber die "Penetration" ge- stellt, den man hier einordnen kann, wenn er auch nur mittelbar mit der Formherstellung zu tun hat. Die Beitrage sind von hervorragenden Fachleuten geschrieben, die selbst zur Entwick- lung der einzelnen Verfahren beigetragen haben bzw. tiber groBe praktische Erfahrungen auf den von ihnen behandelten Gebieten verftigen.
