Fur die Diagnostik der Kreislauferkrankungen spielen technische Untersuchungsverfahren eine uberragende RoUe. Registrierungen und Messungen von V organgen am Herzen und an den Ge- faBen erganzen die klassischen Methoden der klinischen Untersuchung. Es ist bemerkenswert, daB fur das Herz selbst, flir die Aorta und die Pulmonalarterien sowie auch fur die Arteriolen und Kapillaren eine groBe Anzahl von Untersuchungsmethoden zur Ver- fugung steht, die hier nicht im einzelnen aufgezahlt werden sollen. Fur das Gebiet der groBen und mittleren Arterien fehlten aber bisher einfache Routinemethoden, mit deren Hille sich tiefere Einblicke in den Funktionszustand dieses Kreislaufabschnittes gewinnen lassen. Die unblutige Pulskurvenregistrierung ist zwar seit langem bekannt, man beschrankte sich aber darauf, sie in Deutschland zur sog. physikalischen Kreislaufanalyse nach BROMSER und RANKE bzw. WEZLER und BOGER, in den angelsachsischen Landern zur Darstellung einiger weniger Pulscharakteristika bei der Aortenstenose heranzuziehen. Beobachtungen bei Pulsregistrierungen in unserer Klinik veranlaBten uns, systematisch die Formanderungen des Arterienpulses bei Kreislaufkrankheiten zu studieren. Es zeigte sich, daB be- stimmte Krankheiten und StOrungen am Arteriensystem typische Veranderungen der Form des Carotis-, Femoralis- und des FuBpulses bewirken. Diese Erfahrungen sowie experimentelle Untersuchungen und Tierversuche, die z. T. am Pharmakologischen Institut der Universitat Gottingen bei Herrn Prof. LENDLE ausgeflihrt werden konnten, erlaubten schlieBlich, die Ana- lYse der Pulsform zu einem diagnostischen Verfahren auszubauen. Wir sind der Meinung, damit einen gangbaren Weg zur Beurteilung des Arteriensystems gefunden zu haben.
