Wenn auch gegenwartig die Computer-Tomographie oft die Schichtaufnahme ersetzt, so bleiben Computer-Tomographie und Kerspintomographie in diesem Bereich "zusatzliche Untersuchungen," von denen man nach der Analyse der Nativbilder eine erganzende Information erwartet. Die Interpretation der sogenannten "Standardauf nahmen" ist oft schwierig. Anatomische Varianten, degenera tive oder traumatische, tumorose oder infektiose Veran derungen konnen isoliert oder kombiniert auftreten, wodurch es rur den Radiologen oft sehr schwierig ist, die richtige Diagnose zu erkennen.
