Jahrhunderts uber die Herstellung des ge- heimnisvollenPfeilgiftes der Indianer im Orinoco-Gebiet, wie beispielsweise die ersten Anwendungsversuche von Curare beim Tetanus urn 1815, die Identifizierung der Muskelendplatte als dessen Wirkungsort durch CLAUDE BERNARD urn 1850, und schlieJ3lich die Einfuhrung in die Anasthesie durch GRIFFITH im Jahre 1942. Die neuromuskulare Blockade ist damit zu einem wertvollen klinischen Hilfsmittel geworden. Dank intensiven Forschungs- arbeiten von Chemikem und Pharmakologen haben bald weitere curareiihn- lich wirkende Praparate zur Verfugung gestanden, und es sind neue Erkenn t- nisse uber die Art ihrer Effekte vermittelt worden. Auf diesem Gebiet sind in Zurich von SCHMID und KARRER durch die StrukturaufkIarung natiirlicher Curare-Alkaloide und der synthetischen Herstellung von C-Toxiferin, sowle von W ASER durch die Untersuchung uber die Wirkungsmechanismen dieser Pharmaka an den Endplatten, be- deutungsvolle Ergebnisse erarbeitet worden. Bei der vorliegenden Arbeit handelt es sich urn eine zusammenfassende Darstellung bisher bekannter Zirkulationseffekte dieser Priiparate, welche auf eigenen klinisch-pharma- kologischen Untersuchungen basieren. Fur den praktisch tatigen Anas- thesisten sind diese Ergebnisse eminent wichtig. Zurich, im Miirz 1972 G.
