Dieser Band enth lt die Vortr ge, die anl alich des Workshops der Ge- sellschaft fUr 1nformatik Uber "Organisation von Rechenzentren" am 11. und 12. Oktober 1977 in G6ttingen gehalten wurden. Der Workshop wurde von dem Fachausschua 3/4 (Rechnerorganisation und Betriebs- system) der G1 veranstaltet, die DurchfUhrung Ubernahm die Gesell- schaft fUr wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH G6ttingen. Eine hnliche Veranstaltung hatte im Jahre 1975 in Karlsruhe stattgefun- den und groBen Erfolg gehabt (s. 1nformatik-Fachberichte Band 2, Betrieb von Rechenzentren). Die Tagung wendete sich, wie bei dem Thema zu erwarten war, nicht in erster Linie nur an Teilnehmer aus dem wissenschaftlichen Bereich, sondern gerade auch an Mitarbeiter von Rechenzentren der Wirtschaft und Verwaltung. Dies spiegelte sich bereits in den Vortr gen wider, von denen etwa die H lfte aus Rechenzentren der 1ndustrie oder Ver- waltung stammen. Entsprechend waren auch bei den Teilnehmern Firmen und Beh6rden erfreulich zahlreich vertreten. Dem Programmausschua geh6rten an Prof. Dr. M.
