Die Technologien und Anlagen des Sinterns - der zentralen Technologie der Pulvermetallurgie - werden in der Neuauflage integriert und ausf�hrlich behandelt.

Professor Dr.-Ing. habil. Dr.-Ing. E. h. Werner Schatt studierte an der TH Dresden, wo er 1959 zum Dr.-Ing. promovierte. 1966 habilitierte er an der TH "Otto von Guericke" in Magdeburg. Im gleichen Jahr trat er die Nachfolge von Professor F. Eisenkolb an der TU Dresden an. Als Emeritus ist Prof. Schatt in der Doktorandenbetreuung sowie wissenschaftspublizistisch tätig.

Dr.-Ing. habil. Klaus-Peter Wieters absolvierte ein Studium der Werkstoffkunde an der TU Dresden, wo er 1974 zum Dr.-Ing. promovierte. Seit 1971 ist er wissenschaftlicher Oberassistent am Bereich Werkstoffwissenschaft. 1989 habilitierte sich Dr. Wieters an der TU Dresden und ist dort seit 1990 wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter.

Professor Dr.-Ing. Bernd Kieback studierte von 1971-76 an der Universität Charkow (Ukraine). 1982 promovierte er an der TU Dresden zum Dr.-Ing. Bis 1991 war er Mitarbeiter des Zentralinstituts für Festkörperphysik und Werkstoffforschung in Dresden, zuletzt als Leiter des Teilinstituts für Pulvermetallurgie und Verbundwerkstoffe. 1992 übernahm er in Dresden die Leitung der Abteilung Pulvermetallurgie des Fraunhofer-Institutes für Angewandte Materialforschung und kurz darauf die Leitung der Abteilung Pulvertechnologie in Bremen. 1993 wechselte er an die TU Dresden. Parallel leitet Prof. Kieback den Institutsteil Dresden des Fraunhofer-Instituts IFAM. Er ist seit 2000 Vorsitzender des Ausschusses für Pulvermetallurgie.
