Dr. Azhaguchamy Muthukumaran is a Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at Kalasalingam Academy of Krishnankoil, India. With over 16 years of experience teaching undergraduate and postgraduate biotechnology courses, he has made significant academic and research contributions. His primary research interests are cardiac tissue engineering, nanotoxicology, and the antioxidative applications of selenium nanoparticles. Dr. Muthukumaran has successfully led research grants funded by various national agencies to develop selenium-based biomaterials for cardiac tissue regeneration. His work is distinguished by its translational value and its emphasis on the protective and regenerative properties of nanomaterials. Dr. Muthukumaran has supervised numerous doctoral scholars in the field of selenium-based materials for cardiac applications and has established strong collaborative research partnerships with national and international institutions. His academic leadership is evident through his roles, which have played a key role in global academic quality assurance. He has served as Programme Chair for the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) for the Biotechnology programme at Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education.
