Das Buch gliedert sich in zwei Abschnitte: die Stollen- und Tunnel- arbeiten im festen Fels und die Vortriebsarten im nicht standfesten Gebirge. Sonderfalle, wie der Schildvortrieb, das Losen des Gebirges mit Schrammwerkzeugen wurden nur gelegentlich gestreift. Diesbeziiglich muB auf das Fachschrifttum verwiesen werd, da die FaIle bei diesen Bauweisen ortlich so verschieden liegen, daB allgemeine Richtlinien nicht gegeben werden konnen. An vielen Stellen dieses Buches findet man einfache Dinge oft recht ausfiihrlich behandelt, Dinge, die dem erfahrenen Praktiker meist selbst- verstandlich erscheinen. Der von der Hochschule kommende junge Inge- nieur und der im Fach mehr oder weniger fremde Schachtmeister und Vorarbeiter wird aber gerade hier die wichtigsten Hinweise finden. Bei meinen ausgedehnten Bauvorhaben habe ich immer wieder die Erfahrung gema, cht, daB durch das Nichtbeachten recht einfacher Dinge bei sonst guten Geraten und willigen, intelligenten Leuten die Bauleistung ganz gewaltig abgesunken ist. Geschichtliche Angaben und veraltete Bohr- und Sprengmethoden sind im vorliegenden Werk nicht zu finden, da diese fiir ein neuzeit- liches Bauvorhaben ziemlich wertlos sind. Wie etwa das Bohrbild beim Mont-Cenis-Tunnel war, bei dessem Durchschlag noch mit Schwarzpulver gesprengt wurde, ist fiir einen modernen Stollen- und Tunnelbauer wenig bedeutungsvoll.
