Das ist im Laufe der Jahrzehnte nicht leichter geworden. Denn die Vielfalt in der Symptomatologie dieser Krankheit erfordert in dieser Zeit der zunehmenden Spezialisierung eine so breite Skala von Kenntnissen und eine Vertrautheit mit so ungewohnlich heterogenen Untersuchungsmethoden, wie sie heute nur wenig gut ausgebildete Arzte besitzen. So ist es kein Zufall, wenn sich seit Jahrzehnten gerade diejenigen Internisten mit unserem Thema beschiiftigt haben, die einen weiten, uber den Internismus hinausreichenden Horizont besa13en. Und in gleicher Weise halte ich es nicht flir zufallig, wenn ein Autor wie ERICH KUHN sich in jahrelangen Untersuchungen an dieses Thema gewagt hat. Denn ohne die anspruchsvolle und geistreiche Schulung durch seinen fruheren Lehrer CURT OEHME ware ihm weder das Thema attraktiv, noch das Rustzeug fUr die notwendigen Untersuchungen an die Hand gegeben worden. So ist es auch erklarlich, da13 ERICH KUHN sich mit guten Grunden von manchen fruheren Konzeptionen distanziert, mit denen sich einige der fruheren Untersucher die Sache leicht gemacht haben.
