About The Book

Das Deutsche Zentralkomitee zur Bek�mpfung der Tuberkulose legt wiederum seinen Rechenschaftsbericht in Form des Tuberkulose-Jahrbuches 1956 vor. Das Jahrbuch soll Rechenschaft geben von dem Bem�hen, den Punkt zu bestimmen, an dem sich die beiden Bewegungen - die Volkskrankheit Tuber- kulose und die Bestrebungen ihrer Bek�mpfung und �berwindung - jeweils begegnen. Eine solche Standortbestimmung wird in dem Ma e schwieriger, als die Tuberkulose als chronische Krankheit ein schweres pers�nliches Schicksal f�r Zehntausende und eine soziale Not f�r eine noch gr� ere Anzahl von Angeh�rigen wird. Die Problematik liegt nicht mehr so offen wie vor 30 oder 50 Jahren, aber sie ist darum nicht weniger vorhanden. Es w�rde ein wissenschaftliches wie menschliches Vers�umnis und Versagen bedeuten, wenn wir nicht mit aller Intensit�t bestrebt sein wollten, auch diese differenzierteren Zusammenh�nge auf- zuzeigen. Nur eine solche Analyse erm�glicht es, zum Wohle der Kranken wie zum Nutzen der Volksgesundheit die Vielzahl und Vielfalt von medizinischen und sozialen Mitteln einzusetzen, die zur Verf�gung stehen. Es darf der Hoffnung Ausdruck gegeben werden, da die seit langem angestrebte und im Berichtsjahr durchgef�hrte Erneuerung der Satzung, die neben der bisher schon so erfolgreichen T�tigkeit der Arbeitsaussch�sse auch dem Pr�sidialbeirat - als dem wissenschaft- lichen Mittelpunkt des Zentralkomitees - einen'verst�rkten Einflu geben soll. sich fruchtbar auswirkt. Auch von der durch die neue Satzung erm�glichten Ver- breiterung des Pr�sidiums (Vorstand) durch Eintritt von Vertretern der Sozial- versicherungstr�ger und der Landesverb�nde erhoffen wir sowohl eine Verst�r- kung der pers�nlichen F�hlungnahme und des Erfahrungsaustausches als eineVerbesserung der praktischen Auswirkung unserer Arbeit.
