Nun gilt es, diese beiden Tatsachen miteinander verniinftig zu koordinieren, mit anderen Worten, so bald als moglich und so all- gemein wie moglich die Errungenschaften der Thoraxchirurgie den Thoraxverletzten nutzbar zu machen. Es ist unerlaBlich notwendig, daB man dafiir zunachst ein tragfahiges Fundament errichtet. Dnd da zeigt sich immer wieder, daB die epikritische Sichtung und Auswertung der bisherigen Erfahrungen der sicherste Grundpfeiler ist, auf dem man weiterbauen kann. Daher hat mein langjahriger Mitarbeiter, Dr. E. AHRER, nicht nur unser klinisches Erfahrungsgut ausgewertet, sondern auch dank dem Entgegenkommen des Vorstandes des Gerichtsmedizinischen Dniversitats- Institutes in Innsbruck, Prof. Dr. F. J. HOLZER, jene FaIle analysieren konnen, die gar nicht mehr lebend an die Klinik kamen. AHRER hat es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, vor aHem diagnostischenlrrtiimern und Fehlindikationen nachzuspiiren.
