Electric power systems worldwide are facing a radical change stimulated by the pressing need to de-carbonise electricity supply, replace ageing assets, and make effective use of the rapidly developing Information and Communication Technologies for better monitoring and control of power grids. In conventional grids, participation of the consumer in grid operation and control is almost nil. However, this has changed with the advent of fast communication technology and smart metering techniques, which permit consumers to participate in grid operation. ·Introduction to Smart Grid and Architectural Designs ·Measurement and Monitoring in Smart Grid ·Communication Technologies for Smart Grid ·Renewable Energy Sources and Storage in Smart Grid ·Transmission and Distribution for Smart Grid ·Analysis Tools for Smart Grid ·Interoperability, Cyber Security, and Standards ·Role of Electric Vehicles in Smart Grid ·Case Studies and Testbeds for Smart Grid ·Indian Smart Grid Scenario

Akihiko Yokoyama has been a Visiting Scholar at the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of California at Berkeley. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan (IEEJ), the Japan Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (JSIAM), the IEEE and a member of CIGRE. James Momoh is Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Director of the Center for Energy Systems and Control at Howard University. He also serves as Principal Consultant at Bonneville Power Administration. He has authored or coauthored several books, including Operation and Control of Electric Energy Processing Systems and Economic Market Design and Planning for Electric Power Systems, both from Wiley-IEEE Press. Janaka Ekanayake is presently a Senior Lecturer at Cardiff University, UK. Prior to that he was a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Peradeniya. His main research interests include power electronic applications for power systems, renewable energy generation and its integration. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the IET, a Senior Member of IEEE, and a member of the IESL. Jianzhong Wu has been a lecturer at the Cardiff School of Engineering. His main research interests include Energy Infrastructure and Smart Grids. He has a track record of undertaking a number of EU and other funded projects. He is a member of the IET, the IEEE and the ACM. He has published more than 30 papers and co-authored one book. Kithsiri M. Liyanage is attached to the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, as a Professor. He was a Visiting Scientist at the Department of Electrical Engineering, the University of Washington, from 1993 to 1994 and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Advanced Centre for Power and Environmental Technology, the University of Tokyo, Japan, from 2008 to 2010. He has authored or co-authored more than 30 papers related to Smart Grid applications and control since 2009. His research interest is mainly in the application of ICT for the realization of the Smart Grid. Krzysztof Iniewski is managing R&D at Redlen Technologies Inc., a start-up company in Vancouver, Canada. Redlen’s revolutionary production process for advanced semiconductor materials enables a new generation of more accurate, all-digital, radiation-based imaging solutions. He is also Executive Director of CMOS Emerging Technologies. In his career, Dr. Iniewski has held numerous faculty and management positions at the University of Toronto, University of Alberta, SFU, and PMC-Sierra Inc. He has published over 100 research papers in international journals and conferences, holds eighteen international patents, and has written and edited several books. Lars Torsten Berger is founder of BreezeSolve, a Valencia-based company offering engineering and consultant services in telecommunications, signal processing, and smart grid. He is currently also directing the R&D Department of Kenus Informática, Paterna, Spain.
