Die Veroffentlichung dieses Buches hat eine gewisse Vorgeschiehte, auf die ich kurz eingehen mOchte: Spatestens mit der Griindung des Arbeitskreises BOrgerinitiativen Rhein-Main e.V. Anfang der 70er Jahre UiSt mich die Themenstellung, Familie-Arbeitswelt-Kinderbetreuung" Dicht mehr los. Mein kritischer Mentor Ernest Jouhy eroffnet mir aufregend neue Wege ei- ner aktivierenden Sozialforschung. Aktivierende Sozialforschung heiBt in diesem Kontext der Versuch des Forschers, sieh nieht aus den politisch-pad- agogischen Verhliltnissen der betroffenen Eltem und deren Kinder heraus- zuhalten. Vielmehr ist ein Beitrag zur Veriinderung der Untersuchungssitua- tion selbst zu leisten, urn die sich daraus ergebenden Erfahrungen gezielt fUr Prozesse der Selbstiindigkeit der beteiligten Familien einzusetzen. Eltern haben ein Recht auf Authentizitiit ihrer Aussagen. Dieses Buch entstand aus den Entwicklungsarbeiten des hessischen Pro- jekts, Lebensraum Kindergarten". Hier bot sich mir die Moglichkeit an, junge erwerbstiitige Eltem zu ihrer Alltagssituation zu befragen. Anfang 1990 legte ieh die knapp 700 Seiten Interviewmaterial entnervt beiseite: Neue Projekte standen vor der TOr; die kinderpolitischen Aktivitaten in der "Landes wei ten Aktion: Kinder yom in Hessen" und in der JugendfuBballab- teilung SG BomheimlGriin-WeiB entpuppten sich als "Zeit-Diebe". Ohne das Beharrungsvermogen und den Zuspruch meiner Frau Sabine Prack-Seehausen ware das Interviewmaterial in der Schublade geblieben. Sie hat auch die Illustrationen und Karikaturen zum folgenden Text erstellt.
