Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Ethnologie / Volkskunde, Philipps-Universität Marburg, Veranstaltung: SE Ethnographie des Mittelmeerraums, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In dieser Hausarbeit möchte ich mich der Entwicklungsgeschichte und den Grundgedanken des Sufismus, welche eine der, wenn nicht sogar die bekannteste mystische Auslegung des Islam und des Korans darstellt, widmen. In der westlichen Welt wird der Sufismus von der Allgemeinheit primär mit dem Phänomen der tanzenden Derwische assoziiert, welche allerdings nur einen äu erst kleinen Teil der sufistischen Lehre ausmachen und teilweise sogar als eine Art Gegenbewegung zu den traditionellen sufistischen Lehren darstellen. Die Anfänge des Sufismus liegen im 6 und 7. Jahrhundert in Khorassan, dem heutigen Nordostiran, sowie in Teilen Afghanistans und Mittelasiens, aus diesen Regionen stammen zahlreiche bedeutende Mystiker der sufistischen Frühzeit. Der Sufismus breitete sich im Laufe der Zeit gefördert durch die Gründung von Orden im 11. Jahrhundert bis ins 13. Jahrhundert auch in gro en Teilen Arabiens, Indiens, Zentralasiens und Anatoliens aus. Bis zu frühen Neuzeit entwickeln sich Orden auch in Afrika, Indonesien, China und Westanatolien, welche alle ihre eigene Auffassung des Sufismus vertreten, nur im Iran ist der Sufismus aufgrund der strengen religiösen Gesetzgebung nur vereinzelt vertreten. Kontakte von westlichen Gelehrten zum Sufismus gab es schon im Mittelalter. So zeigen die Werke des katalanischen Gelehrten Ramon Lull am Ende des 13. Jahrhunderts sowie auch die späteren Werke Johann Wolfgang von Goethes und Friedrich Rückerts einen enormen sufistischen Einfluss. 1638 wurde zum ersten Mal ein mystisches Werk aus dem Arabischen, ein Gedicht des ägyptischen Mystikers Ibn Al-Farid aus dem frühen 13. Jahrhundert, in deutscher Sprache übersetzt und publiziert. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurden zahlreiche grundlegende Werke zur Geschichte und Tradition des Sufismus in seiner Spätzeit erstmals vollst
