Das soziale Geschlecht ist eine Strukturkategorie, die die gesellschaftlichen Verhaltnisse grundlegend bestimmt und weitreichende Konsequenzen fUr indi- viduelles Erleben und Verhalten hat. Diese Erkenntnis geh6rt mittlerweile zum Allgemeingut sozialwissenschaftlichen Denkens, auch wenn es in die einzelnen Disziplinen mit unterschiedlichem Gewicht eingeht. Umso er- staunlicher ist es, daB der Mainstream der Gesundheitsforschung bislang noch weitgehend unberiihrt von Diskussionen, Konzepten und Ergebnissen der Frauenforschung ist, und dies, obwohl Frauengesundheitsforscherinnen in den vergangenen 15 lahren auf die Bedeutung des Geschlechts als analytischer Kategorie mehr als deutlich hingewiesen haben: "AIle Statistiken zeigen, daB es - in vergleichbaren Altersklassen - keinen zweiten Faktor gibt, der die Morbiditats- und Mortalitatsraten so deutlich beeinfluBt wie der Faktor, Ge- schlecht'" (Franke, 1989, S. 8). Wahrend beispielsweise in der Soziologie und Piidagogik Erkenntnisse und Theorien der Frauenforschung ihre randstandige Position verlassen haben und in den jeweiligen Disziplinen breiter diskutiert werden, kennzeichnet die Gesundheitswissenschaften eine Rezeptionssperre gegentiber feministischen Theorieansatzen. Die feministische Kritik an der Gesundheitsforschung unterscheidet sich nicht von der seit langem in den Human- und Gesellschaftswissenschaften getibten: Der Androzentrismus in Theorie und Empirie spiegelt sich u. a. in der Ausblendung des Geschlechter- verhaltnisses in theoretischen Konzeptionen, in der Vernachlassigung ge- schlechtsspezifischer Themen und Fragestellungen, in einer biologistisch- reduktionistischen Erklarung von Geschlechtsunterschieden sowie in der unzulassigen Verallgemeinerung von Ergebnissen, die in Untersuchungen mit mannlichen Studienteilnehmem gewonnen wurden.
