L'interesse dei ricercatori per gli adolescenti che convivono con l'HIV fin dalla nascita � un fenomeno recente legato all'accessibilit� alle terapie antiretrovirali, in particolare nei paesi in via di sviluppo. Le ricerche condotte su questa popolazione sono rare; ancora pi� rare sono quelle incentrate sullo sviluppo dell'intimit� di questi giovani. Questa ricerca mira a esplorare lo sviluppo dell'intimit� in un gruppo di adolescenti haitiani che convivono con l'HIV dalla nascita, alla luce dei modelli teorici di Furman e Wehner (1997) e Brown (1999). Secondo questi modelli, l'intimit� si evolve attraverso le relazioni intrattenute all'interno della famiglia, con i coetanei e con un partner sentimentale. La popolazione � costituita da 29 adolescenti di entrambi i sessi di et� compresa tra i 15 e i 20 anni. Questi adolescenti sono seguiti a Port-au-Prince, presso la clinica per adolescenti dei centri GHESKIO (gruppo haitiano di studi sul sarcoma di Kaposi e sulle infezioni opportunistiche). Le testimonianze di questi adolescenti hanno permesso di identificare quattro tipi di famiglia in cui vivono: una famiglia d'origine, una famiglia allargata, una famiglia ricostituita e una nuova famiglia.
