So m ssen sich fusionswillige Presseunternehmen laut Gesetz gegen Wettbewerbsbeschr nkungen (GWB) beim Bundeskartellamt anmelden, wenn die beteiligten Verlage zusammen mehr als 25 Millionen Euro Umsatz machen. Vor allem die gro en Verlage haben sich immer wieder daf r eingesetzt, die Beschr nkungen f r Zusammenschl sse von Verlagen zu lockern. In der vorliegenden Arbeit soll dargestellt werden, was in den 1970er Jahren berhaupt zur Einf hrung einer Sonderregelung f r den Printbereich f hrte, wie man bereits damals heftig ber deren Sinn stritt und in welchem Umfang sie schlie lich Gesetz wurde. Um sich dieser speziellen Thematik besser widmen zu k nnen, erfolgt zun chst ein grunds tzlicher berblick ber den Verlauf und die Problematik der Pressekonzentration im Nachkriegsdeutschland, worin auch Ursachen, Formen und Auswirkungen dieser Entwicklungen eingeschlossen sind. Ferner wird dargelegt, welchen Einfluss die Pressefusionskontrolle seit 1976 auf die deutsche Presselandschaft hatte und angesichts einschneidender Ver nderungen noch haben kann. Zudem soll ein kurzer Blick auf entsprechende Regelungen im Ausland geworfen werden. Schlie lich wird dargestellt, wie Politik, Wirtschaft und Medienexperten einer geforderten Novelle gegen berstehen und was eine Reform des Wettbewerbsrechts f r den deutschen Printmarkt bedeuten k nnte.
